Main Uses of Hydrogen ; Is it Only as a Source of Power?

Are you aware of the usage of hydrogen? Do you know what actually can be done using this type of renewable energy? We should share with the audiences so we could learn. Let us share three activities which can benefit the usage of hydrogen.

  1. Fuel cells powered by hydrogen generate electricity.

Fuel cell technology simultaneously produces energy and water from oxygen and hydrogen. It performs comparable duties to a battery. Moreover, as long as fuel and oxygen are available, it can produce power. Fuel cells are regarded as a cutting-edge innovation and the energy source of the future.

Atoms of hydrogen and oxygen are combined to create power in hydrogen fuel cells. Pure water and possibly valuable heat are the only byproducts produced by fuel cells, which turn the chemical energy in hydrogen directly into electricity. In addition to being pollution-free, hydrogen-powered fuel cells have the potential to be more than twice as efficient as conventional combustion technologies.

2. There are several industrial operations that utilise hydrogen.

Have you ever noticed that hydrogen is possible for industrial application? Most of the amount of hydrogen used today serves a purpose in businesses including oil refining, ammonia manufacturing, and methanol synthesis. Hydrogen has a long line of application in many different industries. Not only that, nowadays, there is a sizable and understandable focus on the potential use of hydrogen as a heating and electricity-generating alternative to natural gas.

Both the necessary heat and the chemical processes in the process can be replaced with hydrogen. The use of clean hydrogen has the potential to significantly cut emissions because steel is a key component of both industrial operations and modern structures. That’s the plus point. The net-zero target can be achieved through energy efficiency. Since there is now a need to minimise carbon emissions, hydrogen is being employed in creative ways to create both new and old products.

3. Usage of hydrogen for vehicles.

Compressed hydrogen gas is fed into a fuel cell stack onboard a fuel cell vehicle, which converts the chemical energy of the fuel into electrical energy rather than burning the gas. The electric motors of the car are then driven by this electricity. There will be no emissions from the tailpipe, and the only waste generated is clean water.

Compared to gasoline-powered competitors, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are equally silent, highly energy-efficient, emit no pollutants, and have an identical range and performance. It is comparable to nearly twice as much fuel efficiency as gasoline-powered automobiles. The most important point is renewable energy can be used to produce hydrogen, which is plentiful as well.
